ESMA selects Trax Representative on Market Data Reporting Working Group

Trax, a leading provider of regulatory reporting, trade matching and capital market data services, announces that Geoffroy Vander Linden, Head of Post-Trade Business Development, has been selected to represent the firm on the ESMA Market Data Reporting Working Group (MDRWG). The group is tasked with providing expertise on the development of technical standards and guidelines related to the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and the second iteration of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II).

A goal of the group is to enhance the quality of the market data reported to EU National regulators and Trade Repositories, and help to resolve ongoing issues relating to transaction reporting, positions, record-keeping of orders and instrument reference. The final decision as to who would be in the working group was made by the Executive Director of ESMA, the Head of the Markets Division and the Chair of the MDRWG.

Mr. Vander Linden has over 15 years of experience working in regulatory reporting and post-trade services with Trax and previously Euroclear, where he was Product Manager for liquidity management and clearing services, tasked with implementing clearing and settlement practices according to MiFID. He will leverage his own technical knowledge and market insight to assist the MDRWG in advising ESMA on implementing appropriate market data standards to the financial markets, harmonised between both EMIR and MiFID II.

Geoffroy Vander Linden stated, “Trax’s participation in the Working Group highlights our commitment to engaging with both regulators and market participants to develop trade reporting standards that help improve market efficiencies. We are very pleased for this opportunity to work with ESMA and a group of senior market participants from across the European financial industry to guide the development of thoughtful data reporting requirements.”
