Double win for Markit in Waters Rankings

Waters readers vote Markit EDM and Markit Corporate Actions services best in class

Markit, a leading, global financial information services company, was voted Best EDM System and Best Corporate Actions Solution Provider at the Waters Rankings.

The EDM accolade comes just three months after the firm received the prize for Best Sell-Side Data Management Product at the inaugural Sell-Side Technology Awards.

“We’re proud that Waters readers have named us Best EDM System,” said Daniel Simpson, managing director and head of Markit EDM. “Our customers both on the buy-side and sell-side are facing exponential rises in data volumes while at the same time having to comply with new regulations. This award is testament to our close collaboration with our customers to ensure they are able to adapt to both present and future challenges.”

The prize for Best Corporate Actions Solution Provider was awarded to the Global Corporate Actions (GCA) Validation Service, which was recently acquired by Markit. The service, which has been rebranded as Markit Corporate Actions, is used by brokerage firms, banks, hedge funds, investment managers and service providers to ensure accurate and timely processing of corporate actions. With coverage of more than 1.4 million securities from over 170 countries globally, it is the largest provider of validated corporate actions information in the marketplace today.

Brian Okupski, managing director and head of reference data at Markit, said: “We are delighted to have won the award for Best Corporate Actions Solution Provider. Following our acquisition of GCA, we now offer a fully outsourced service for managing and validating corporate actions and are working to expand the universe of data sources included in the service. As part of this effort, we will soon add Euroclear Bank’s corporate actions data for Eurobonds to our database. Our aim is to provide even more timely notification of corporate actions to help our customers create operational efficiencies and reduce risk.”

“These two wins demonstrate high levels of customer satisfaction in Markit’s EDM and Corporate Actions services,” said Victor Anderson, editor-in-chief, Waters Technology. “Firms are increasingly aware of the importance of effective EDM and have been endorsing Markit EDM’s blend of cutting-edge technology and commitment to customer service. Meanwhile, the management and validation of corporate actions data have come a long way in the last ten years and financial institutions are clearly benefiting from outsourcing their needs in this challenging area.”

Now in their 11th year, the Waters Rankings celebrate the best financial services solutions and technology providers. The rankings are based on votes from asset management firms, brokerages, investment banks and exchanges.
