Panini Announces the Development of New Check Scanner Architecture; GETI, an Early Adopter, Certifies for Processing

Breakthrough Solution for Check Capture at Point of Sale

Today, at the Electronic Transaction Association’s (ETA) Annual Meeting & Expo in New Orleans, Panini, a global payments technology provider, will introduce Panini mI:Deal™, the latest breakthrough solution from their continuous innovation program. Panini mI:Deal provides merchants and retailers an efficient and cost-effective solution for capturing checks at point of sale (POS).

“We are very excited to introduce the Panini mI:Deal,” stated Michael Pratt, Chief Marketing Officer at Panini. “The Panini mI:Deal features an innovative new architecture that creates an entirely new way for devices to operate in the world of distributed capture, expanding the use of Panini capture devices in new and exciting ways, and further differentiating Panini as a true market leader.”

The Panini mI:Deal architecture combines innovation and ease-of-use with “plug & play” connectivity to maximize functionality and ROI. On-board intelligence allows for fast and easy integration with a variety of physical and virtual POS environments. Wired and wireless connectivity options provide complete mobility without compromising Check 21 compliance or security. Extending and leveraging the superior features of the Panini I:Deal® check scanner, the mI:Deal has a compact and attractive “clam shell” design with an ergonomic horizontal feeding area and straight paper path. The mI:Deal offers advanced MICR reading technology ensuring the highest level of transaction accuracy, dual-side image capture with real-time delivery of front and rear images for maximum flexibility, and front franking (or marking) of items to avoid item re-presentment and fraud.

Global eTelecom, Inc. (GETI), a leading electronic check, ACH, and Gift/Loyalty card processor, is one of the first to adopt and certify the Panini mI:Deal, adding the innovative and versatile scanner to their extensive hardware offerings for customers and channel partners. Merchants and retailers wanting efficient, cost effective and robust check capture at POS will quickly and easily be able to integrate the Panini mI:Deal with their existing GETI solutions.

“GETI has fully embraced the innovative scanner technology that Panini brings to the table through their new architecture, and we are confident that all of our integrators will see the true benefit from the products ease of implementation and new connectivity options,” said John Laurell, VP of Technical Operations at Global eTelecom. “Given the modular capabilities of the Panini product design, we do expect this solution to open new doors for us in the mobile/tablet processing environments as well.”
