Actuate Corporation (NASDAQ: ACTU), the leader in delivering Rich Internet Applications Without Limits™ and founder and co-leader of the BIRT (Business Intelligence and reporting Tools) project with the Eclipse Foundation, announced today the creation of the Actuate BIRT Global Partner Connection. The new programme will unite organisations globally using BIRT, the leading open source information application development environment and a top level Eclipse project, and will bring together a community of technology providers offering high-valued products, solutions and services around BIRT.
The Actuate BIRT Global Partner Connection will build a network of collaborating companies with BIRT knowledge, experiences and skills on-top of an existing developer community, which has made BIRT the fastest growing open source business intelligence technology with over 5 million downloads in just the last two years. Participating companies will have access to BIRT expertise for Eclipse BIRT and the value-add BIRT products and services from Actuate, including technical support, and sales and marketing resources to drive revenue growth and customer successes.
“Actuate has done a great job developing the Eclipse BIRT technology and supporting a strong community around the project,” said Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation. “We are also pleased that Actuate continues to provide important commercial offerings that add value to the BIRT technology.”
Participation in the Actuate BIRT Global Partner Connection is free and meant for independent software vendors, systems integrators, consultants, technology providers and resellers to join; however, those interested in joining the programme are required to demonstrate commitment to BIRT and proven expertise and experience implementing or integrating BIRT solutions. Once enrolled as part of the Actuate BIRT Global Partner Connection, members receive the following key benefits:
• Exclusive access to BIRT knowledge and best practices to improve skills and enable delivery of quality products and services through partner-only resources
• Increased visibility for products and services within the global BIRT user community through listings and promotions on BIRT Exchange and in The BIRT Report monthly newsletter
• Discounts on BIRT technical support, training classes and fast-start service offerings to ensure effective design and delivery of BIRT solutions
• Direct connections with others in the BIRT community via participation in user groups and training events
"We are excited about a marketplace dedicated to BIRT solutions and services," said Keith Mericle, CEO of Innovent Solutions, which is a member of the BIRT Project Management Committee and contributor to the project since inception. "We look forward to contributing our expertise to the new community, collaborating with other members, and having the ability to market our products and services."
“Leveraging the value provided by the Actuate BIRT Global Partner Connection will be an excellent way to drive innovation through increased collaboration,” said Amit Okhandiar, CEO of mLogica. “With this announcement, Actuate and BIRT are reinforcing their intention to further extend BIRT’s market reach to include any organisation requiring business intelligence.”
