First ever pan-European CIO conference announced for April 2006

Top European CIO speakers confirmed for first European CIO event, including industry leaders from Accenture, Deutsche Bank AG and Volkswagen AG.

London, 21 December, 2005 - Hermann-Josef Lamberti, CIO and member of the Board of Managing Directors for Deutsche Bank AG, and Paul Saffo, Director of the Institute for the Future, are two of the influential dignitaries scheduled to speak at the inaugural European CIO Conference and Awards 2006. The first truly pan-European event to harness the vision and practices of the increasingly prolific Chief Information Officer, the CIO Conference and Awards 2006 takes place in Frankfurt, Germany, on 4 April 2006.

At the event, which will include a dedicated awards ceremony recognising good practice across the European region, CIOs from a broad cross section of European organisations will have a unique opportunity to meet and discuss their evolving roles and examine the impact of ICT on their business.

The conference will address issues affecting CIOs including IT management costs, the increasingly complex role of the CIO, IT and IS Governance, Smart Business Networks, Mobile Solutions and Security, amongst others. It will provide the forum to identify and highlight global trends within key industry sectors and discuss the impact of information technology within these markets.

The conference will also feature CIO speakers from Accenture, Volkswagen AG, Norsk Hydro ASA, NyKredit, Lufthansa Systems Group Gmbh, Nokia, Ruuki, Danish Ministry of Employment, RSM Erasmus University, and the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT). Additional speakers are being confirmed for the event with further announcements to be made in early 2006.

The European CIO Awards are open to any CIO working within Europe, either within the public or private sector. The awards will recognise excellence in leadership, innovation and quality in the use and promotion of information and communication technology.

Winners and finalists will be honoured at the award's gala presentation on the evening of the conference.

Colwyn Munro, Executive Vice President of IDG Global Solutions said: "The CIO Conference and Awards 2006 is a truly European conference that brings together some of Europe's noted business and technology leaders. The combination of distinguished speakers, senior delegates and the opportunity for a rich, open and honest debate about the increasing and complex role technology is playing in European commerce is the uniqueness this event brings to the market.

"There is nothing comparable in the market, and according to our research over three quarters of European CIOs state such a forum would be highly valued to them."
