LONDON (18 July 2005)—Dow Jones Newswires, the world’s leading independent provider of real-time financial news, today announced that it has appointed Andrea Hotter as assistant news editor on its commodities desk, effective 1 August 2005.
Ms. Hotter will be responsible for coverage of the metals, softs (foodstuff) and grains markets for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and will oversee a team of London-based reporters and additional contributors throughout the region. She will report to Adam Smallman, energy editor, EMEA, who recently added commodities to his portfolio.
Ms. Hotter, who has covered the commodities markets—and metals in particular—for more than eight years, joins Newswires from Mitsui Bussan Commodities London, where she has worked as a commodities broker for the past year. Other positions she has held include deputy editor of Metal Bulletin PLC magazine; senior correspondent, EMEA, for Bridge News; and senior correspondent, EMEA, for OsterDowJones.
"I’m delighted that we’ve attracted one of the best metals journalists around to Dow Jones Newswires," said Gabriella Stern, senior editor, EMEA, Dow Jones Newswires. "Andrea’s sourcing and knowledge will ensure that our metals coverage is second to none, and her rounded comprehension of markets will boost our softs and grains reporting."
Ms. Hotter holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature and language from the University of London.
