Morningstar Investment Management Europe Ltd, part of the Morningstar Investment Management group, has appointed Mike Coop to Head of Multi-Asset Portfolio Management in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Coop brings over 25 years of financial services experience and joins from Prudential Portfolio Management, where he served as Head of Multi-Asset Portfolio Management.
At Morningstar, Coop will lead the company’s multi-asset portfolio management team for EMEA based in London and Paris, and be primarily responsible for Morningstar’s managed portfolios offering in the region. He will also chair the Morningstar Investment Management group’s Portfolio Committee, and serve as lead manager alongside portfolio manager Emma Morgan, of the Morningstar Real Return managed portfolios range.
Before joining Prudential, Coop served as Head of Multi-Asset Strategies at Ibbotson Associates Australia, a business previously acquired by Morningstar, where he managed globally invested multi-asset portfolios using a variety of strategies including rules-based, derivatives and multi-manager portfolios; he also served as a member of the Global Dynamic Asset Allocation Committee. Earlier in his career, Coop served as an equity strategist at BT Investment Management, a global asset allocation strategist at AXA Investment Managers, and a manager research consultant at Bacon & Woodrow.
“We’re delighted that Mike is returning to Morningstar”, Dan Kemp, Chief Investment Officer for Morningstar Investment Management Europe, said. “Mike is a seasoned investor with a strong track record of running real-return focused portfolios. In his previous role in our Sydney office, Mike was integral to our valuation-driven approach to asset allocation, and his addition to the European team further strengthens our managed portfolios proposition and support for the financial advisers we serve.”
