Co-Operative Energy Chooses Contigo’s Cloud-Hosted ETRM Solution

25 April 2017

The UK’s largest customer-owned energy supplier, Co-op Energy, has chosen Contigo’s cloud-hosted enTrader® Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) solution to improve efficiency and flexibility in energy trading.

Co-op Energy is part of the Midcounties Co-operative; the largest independent co-operative in the UK, and offers a range of electricity and gas tariffs, including a 100% green electricity option. It has joined the growing number of businesses moving away from the use of spread-sheets and taking advantage of the benefits of cloud-deployed ETRM.

Contigo’s head of business development, Tim Rogers, commented: “More businesses are now choosing the cloud-hosted option of our enTrader® ETRM solution. Our Software as a Service (SaaS) solution means we host and manage the service for clients, automatically applying updates to the software, so that users are able to stay up to date with industry changes, security updates and performance requirements, and can achieve greater agility and ‘future-proofing’ for their businesses. Our enTrader® software is designed to simplify energy trading, while also delivering a lower total cost of ownership.”

Mark Billsborough, Head of Hedging and Renewables at Co-op Energy, said: “We are always looking at ways to improve our efficiency in energy hedging and looked at options for an ETRM system to help us.   We now have 450,000 customers and need to ensure our systems are future proof.

“We were quickly drawn to the clean and simple layout of Contigo’s systems with the excellent flexibility when discussing implementation and the various packages.

“We weren’t forced to take unnecessary elements as part of the install, we only pay for what we need.”

Contigo’s software was voted number one for ‘ease of implementation’ in the Energy Risk Software Rankings 2017. enTrader® is pre-configured for the European energy market with ready to use functionality and is fully integrated with Trayport’s GlobalVision Trading Gateway. For further information:
