Order book turnover on Xetra, Börse Frankfurt and Tradegate Exchange across all asset classes stood at €103.8 billion in May (May 2015: €125.6 billion). Of the €103.8 billion, €96.1 billion were attributable to Xetra (May 2015: €117.1 billion). The average daily turnover on Xetra stood at €4.6 billion in May (May 2015: €6.2 billion). A turnover of €2.9 billion was attributable to Börse Frankfurt (May 2015: €3.7 billion). Order book turnover on Tradegate Exchange* totalled approximately €4.9 billion in May (May 2015: €4.8 billion). Broken down by asset classes, cash market turnover in equities reached about €90.7 billion. Turnover in ETFs/ETCs/ETNs amounted to €11.6 billion. Turnover in bonds was €0.5 billion, in structured products €0.9 billion and in funds €0.1 billion. The electronic trading platform Eurex Bonds traded €4.7 billion (single counting, mainly government bonds) in May (May 2015: €5.7 billion). Viewed by transactions, a total of 19.2 million trades were executed on Xetra in May (May 2015: 18.5 million). The DAX security with the highest turnover on Xetra in May was Bayer AG at €7.8 billion. Covestro AG led the MDAX equities with €645 million, while Schaeffler AG topped the SDAX equity index with €451 million, and Wirecard AG headed TecDAX with €474 million. Eurex trading statistics May 2016 Eurex Exchange: ADV 5.9 million contracts / ISE: ADV 2.1 million contracts In May 2016, the international derivatives markets of Eurex, part of Deutsche Börse Group, recorded an average daily volume of 8.0 million contracts (May 2015: 10.1 million). Of those, 5.9 million were Eurex Exchange contracts (May 2015: 7.7 million), and 2.1 million contracts (May 2015: 2.4 million) were traded at the New York based International Securities Exchange (ISE). The volume traded on the spot and derivatives power markets of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) amounted to 287.8 terawatt hours (TWh). Eurex Repo recorded in all markets in May 2016 an average outstanding volume of 142.6 billion euros. Eurex Exchange The equity derivatives (equity options and single stock futures) segment at Eurex Exchange reached almost 30.9 million contracts (May 2015: 44.3 million). Thereof, equity options totaled 15.3 million contracts and single stock futures equaled 15.6 million contracts. The interest rate derivatives segment totaled 35.6 million contracts (May 2015: 49.9 million). The Euro-Bund-Future reached 13.4 million contracts, the Euro-Bobl-Future 9.9 million contracts and the Euro-Schatz-Future 4.0 million contracts. The three Euro-BTP-Futures totaled around 2.3 million contracts. The two Euro-OAT-Futures recorded around 1.7 million contracts. The Eurex Exchange segment dividend-based derivatives recorded around 0.7 million contracts. Volatility derivatives totaled 1.0 million contracts. European Energy Exchange On the natural gas spot and derivatives markets, the volume amounted to 126.0 TWh (May 2015: 47.1 TWh). In May, a volume of 63.4 million tonnes of CO2 was traded on the spot and derivatives market for CO2 emission allowances (May 2015: 48.4 million tonnes of CO2). In addition, 3,491 contracts were traded in EEX’s agricultural products.
