Investment Of Over 3 Million Euros For Startupbootcamp E-commerce Accelerator 2015 Cohort

Accelerator Startupbootcamp Amsterdam organized their ‘E-commerce Accelerator Demo Day’ on 22 January 2016. Ten startups, from six countries, pitched the results of three months of acceleration to an audience of over 400 investors and corporate partners at the headquarters of Rabobank in Utrecht. So far, the young companies already raised more than 3.2 million euro. The startups expect to make significant steps in the next twelve months with this initial investment.

René Steenvoorden, CIO of the Rabobank and ‘host’, opened the day: “The Internet and digitization change the world. To participate in it, we have to change our mindset. Agility is necessary. As a large bank, we are less 'flexible' than startups. That is why we like to work with these young, innovative companies, and why we partner with Startupbootcamp.”

Then Patrick de Zeeuw, co-founder of Startupbootcamp, updated the attendees about the ambitions of Startupbootcamp: “Startupbootcamp globally creates and stimulates innovation-ecosystems. Since our start in 2010, we have launched accelerator programs all over the world. And new programs will follow in the upcoming period, such as FinTech and Cyber Security in Amsterdam and E-commerce in New York. More often, we do this in collaboration with corporate partners seeking access to startups. Corporates realize that they have to innovate and change their organization in other ways. Today’s theme is ‘The Next Level’. The 10 presenting E-commerce startups are building on top of existing E-commerce solutions and thereby bring the E-commerce sector to the next level.”

Sal Matteis, managing director of the Startupbootcamp E-commerce Accelerator in Amsterdam about the cohort of 2015: “The startups that pitch today, change the way we look at E-commerce, retail, payments, and innovation. E-commerce is still in its infancy. These startups show us the future. They all have three things in common: they all paying customers from day one, they have been building on top of current infrastructure and have the potential to have a major impact on the market."

For the startups, Demo Day is a platform for big announcements. Several companies announced that they have acquired great new customers and partners. 24sessions, an online advice platform, welcomes Rabobank, ING, and Achmea as its customers. Clickly will collaborate with Shopify and liateR will deliver its 3D-sales solution to Athens International Airport. ShopAds, a service offering brands high converting product placements, announced Praxis and Makro as its most recent customers.

The teams have already raised investments of more than 3.2 million. Six of them intend to raise 4.7 million euro funding in the upcoming months. Sal Matteis expects that these companies will achieve their goals: “I am very confident that this latest E-commerce class is going to succeed. There are some hidden gems in this class. The number of positive responses from potential investors makes us very optimistic."
