ACTICO Rules support for the Decision Model and Notation (DMN) standard will be available in 2017. Customers benefit from an increased transparency and improved business IT alignment.
ACTICO Rules will be fully compatible with DMN standard in version 1.1
In 2017, ACTICO Rules will support the creation, exchange and execution of DMN models. ACTICO Rules will provide a new model type called DMN Decision Model in addition to the existing Flow Rules and Decision Tables. DMN Decision Models are fully compatible with DMN standard in version 1.1. Customers will benefit from:
- defining decision requirements in a transparent and standardized way,
- sharing decision models across people, functions and IT systems,
- bridging the gap between business-driven requirements definition and technical implementation,
- increasing efficiency through automated execution of DMN decision tables.
A key concept of ACTICO Rules is to model business rules and decisions in a transparent way that all stakeholders can easily understand. By supporting the DMN industry standard, ACTICO expands the ACTICO Rules capabilities to meet the demands with regards to business decision management in the best possible way.
DMN in a nutshell
Decision Model and Notation (DMN) aims at standardizing the way operational business decisions are described and modeled. It serves as a common language for all kinds of stakeholders and users: Business departments, analysts and IT professionals use DMN models as a common basis to model, exchange and document business decisions and their requirements.
The Decision Model and Notation (DMN) standard has been introduced to compensate the lack of Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) when it comes to business decisions or business rules. The attempt to turn these types of business logic into a BPMN process model can result in confusion and intransparency. A myriad of branches would be required to model the complexity of a decision. DMN is providing a solution for this issue by using a tables as a modeling approach.
Decision Model and Notation is defined and published as an open standard by the Object Management Group (OMG).
