Settlement cycles around the globe for various asset classes have been becoming shorter and shorter. Following the financial crisis, says Eri Sakaguchi, assistant manager, NRI, the need to reduce settlement risk has become a growing priority in the industry. Speaking with TABB analyst Valerie Bogard, Sakaguchi discusses how technology has impacted settlement cycles, the challenges for global institutions to manage regionally fragmented rules, and whether there is a limit to how short settlement cycles can get.
