What’s in store for Fintech in 2016?

17 December 2015

Want to keep up with what entrepreneurs are doing at the cutting edge of financial tech and understand where that fits into the bigger picture? Make sure you’re attending our next event: The Future Of Fintech where London unicorns TransferWise and Funding Circle will share their insights ahead of four rapid-fire startup pitches.

We’re excited to announce that the four startups pitching on the night will be Cutover, Everledger, Splittable and Wayerz. Join us at Rise London, in East London, on January 27th 2016 for an evening of bright ideas, lively discussion and networking drinks with senior executives from major tech companies, hot startups, advisory firms, consultants and investors.

Check out this quick highlights video from our last fintech event for a flavour of what to expect.

Meet The Startups:

Cutover aims to make it easier for banks and other organisations to orchestrate teams in high-risk situations like launching major projects, disaster recovery and event management. It provides tools for scheduling, real-time tracking and baked in comms for simplified decision making. Co-Founder and CEO Ky Nichol will talk us through the company’s growth journey.

With an estimated USD 45bn lost to fraud in the US and UK alone each year, there’s a big problem to solve and Everledger thinks blockchain has the answer. Aimed at taking fraud out of the diamond industry, Everledger is a permanent ledger for diamond certificates and transaction history from different stakeholders including insurers. Founder and CEO Leanne Kemp will talk us through the company’s vision.

Aiming to make passive-aggressive notes about who finished the milk a thing of the past is Splittable. The app lets users easily keep track of everything that they and their housemates are spending money on, from electricity bills to pizza and beer. Splittable is designed to let users divide costs any way they want and see who paid for what. Co-founder and CTO Vasanth Subramanian will explain the startup’s vision.

As global banking shifts closer to real-time transactions, Wayerz is helping banks choose the optimum routes for international wiring, inter-bank reporting and reconciliation. It aims to automate the productivity and automation of bank-to-bank systems, transactions and interfaces to increase real-time control and transparency.

Rise London

We’ll also be hearing from Isabel Cooke, assistant VP of Open Innovation at Rise London. Rise is a global community for open innovation designed to help shape the future of financial services. Right in the heart of the East London tech cluster, Rise London provides space, mentoring, networking and support for fintech startups. Cooke will talk about how Rise’s initiatives and the Barclays Accelerator programme fit into the UK’s flourishing fintech sector.
