Compass Plus, an international provider of retail banking and electronic payments software to processors and financial institutions, announced its recent International TranzWare and TranzAxis User Group (IT²UG) was its most successful yet. The bi-annual event, which took place 24-28 February in Cancun, Mexico, brought together 130 attendees from 40 organizations in 18 countries around the world spanning TranzWare and TranzAxis users, technology and business partners, payments system representatives and other experts in the retail banking, electronic payments and IT industry.

IT²UG enabled payments and banking industry experts to share their technological experiences, develop new ideas, exchange views on current and future industry and economic trends and engage in lively debates. The most prominent themes that came out of the conference surrounded the successful use of the innovative platform TranzAxis from Compass Plus, remote banking and next-generation solutions, contactless payments and loyalty projects.

On the theme of loyalty Alexey Belogolov, Deputy Head of IT Department at Zapsibcombank, discussed the way the bank had utilized TranzWare Loyalty to launch a new and unique loyalty program – PLUSES - to the Russian market. Elena Bindusova, Head of Payment Systems Department at SMP Bank, and Svetlana Nikitina, Head of Technology Department at Bank SIAB, also shared their experiences of implementing loyalty programs with Compass Plus software.

The possibilities available in the Latin American region for the payments industry were presented by Ejup Biqkaj, Business Development Director at Quipu, who discussed the company’s experiences of implementing Compass Plus software in the region to carry out Host-to-Host implementations and EMV migrations. Another Latin American customer shared their experience of implementing new payments products based on Compass Plus’ innovative platform TranzAxis.

Topical themes, such as contactless and mobile payments, were also discussed by business and technology partners, such as MasterCard, Ingenico, Gemalto and Plastic Card Enterprise Ltd.

The event was a great success and feedback from delegates was extremely positive. Delegates praised the high standard of the presentations and interesting customer insights provided as well as the wide ranging and topical agenda:

“It is a very praiseworthy and well organized event in terms of both free time and the conference itself. As far as the reports are concerned, it was a very successful and content-rich program. It was a rich cultural program – so hats off to the organizers. Looking to the future, we are always ready to take part in the event”, Larisa Shuvalova, Ingenico.

“It is the first time I have taken part in such a global event. Everything is very well organized, it is wonderful. There are very interesting presentations and I will be very happy if I have an opportunity to attend the conference again. Many thanks to the organizers”, Svetlana Strakhova, Gemalto.

“I feel that it’s been very useful seeing what fellow Compass Plus users are doing with their products. Although we’re all in different markets, and whilst the product GPC is using is different from others, the concepts are the same and can be applied across all markets so it’s definitely been of value. It’s interesting for me to see the way products have been implemented and the approach taken so I can look at ways to support my bank customers bring these things into the market, whether it’s gift cards or prepaid”, Justin Stuart-Young, GPC (Antigua).

“We’ve been using Compass Plus software for over 10 years so I know the products, but what’s interesting coming to the conference is seeing how others have applied them in their markets. The presentations have enabled me to compare the relative infiltration of the product into the markets, the usability and so on. Of the themes covered, it was good to see the issues surrounding the popularity of ecommerce solutions, contactless payments and the segments it targets”, Kaushik Pattnayak, Quipu (Germany).

The conference was sponsored by Gemalto, Ingenico, INPAS, Intervale Group, Lanter, MasterCard, Plastic Card Enterprise Ltd, Smart Continental and Terminal Plus. Each gave interesting presentations and insights into the payments industry and trends around it that added to the variety of the event, making the agenda richer and more multi-faceted.

“It is always a great pleasure for the company to bring our customers and partners together to celebrate successful project implementations with new and existing customers and partners. It’s an opportunity to network with distinguished members of the industry to discuss prospective projects and ambitious ideas and share best practices amongst peers. We use the conference to get feedback, suggestions and comments from our customers first hand about our company, something we consider an important part of our obligation towards all Compass Plus customers,” said Youri Koliakin, CEO and President at Compass Plus. “It is excellent to have received not only positive feedback about our products and services, but also a strong appreciation of our user groups’ organisation. In fact, we aspire to make IT²UG not only a meeting for the company’s friends and users of our products and technologies, but also a significant event in the electronic payments industry. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who have generously shared their expertise by delivering reports and presentations, as well as every conference participant for their active and emphatic involvement in this key bi-annual event.”
