FDM Group signs Armed Forces Corporate Covenant

London - 3 February 2014

Leading IT employer, FDM Group, has formally signed the Ministry of Defence’s Armed Forces Corporate Covenant, cementing its commitment to the Armed Forces community.

Chief Executive Officer Rod Flavell signed the pledge on behalf of FDM at the firm’s London centre. By signing, FDM pledges to support the British Armed Forces by upholding the Covenant’s key principles:

• No member of the Armed Forces Community should face disadvantage in the provision of public and commercial services compared to any other citizen
• In some circumstances special treatment may be appropriate especially for the injured or bereaved

The Armed Forces Corporate Covenant is a voluntary pledge from businesses and charitable organisations to outline publically how they are willing to commit to the Armed Forces community.

Rod Flavell said: “We are honoured to be showing our support and recognising the contributions made by those who serve in the British Armed Forces by signing the Covenant. At FDM we understand that ex-Forces personnel have an abundance of transferable skills that are invaluable to the IT industry.”

By acknowledging the value that the ex-Forces community brings to our business, we pledge to promote the fact that we are an Armed Forces friendly organisation, we seek to support the employment of ex-Forces personnel and aim to actively participate in Armed Forces Day.

Since its launch in 2013, FDM’s UK Ex-Forces Programme has offered ex-Forces personnel the opportunity to join its award-winning IT Consultant training programme. The programme provides personnel with professional IT training in a number of disciplines both business and technically focused, followed by commercial experience for at least two years. It is our dedicated programme that puts personnel on a bespoke IT career path and supports their transition into the corporate world.

FDM has recently partnered with British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS), a non- profit organisation working to support the ex-Forces community during their career transition. FDM’s involvement with BFRS broadens its opportunities to engage with highly skilled ex-Forces personnel by offering IT careers to the community.
