Fresh reap benefits of Open GI’s tablet and smartphone platform

4 June 2013

Fresh! Insurance has reported a sharp increase in month on month sales completed via mobile devices following a pilot of Open GI’s mCommerce solution designed for tablets and smartphones.

Autosaint, owned by Fresh! Insurance, saw sales on smartphones and tablets increase by 122.7% compared to the month leading up to the live release which, according to Open GI’s report, was helped by a 26.9% increase in visitors to Autosaint’s site via a mobile device.

Autosaint were existing subscribers to Open GI’s eBroker online quote and buy solution, designed initially for visitors utilising PC browsers. Open GI’s new mCommerce solution detects the visitor’s device and presents them with an experience optimised for non-PC smartphone and tablet devices.

Stuart Whalley, Business Relationship Manager, Fresh! Insurance Group, commented: “Following the success of a revised eBroker customer journey pilot with Open GI on our main website, we were keen to see how we could improve conversion rates by utilising a mobile platform. We have been extremely encouraged by the increases witnessed during and since the pilot with Open GI.”

Simon Hughes, Sales and Marketing Director, Open GI, said: “There is tangible evidence to suggest that internet usage on tablets and smartphones is set to overtake desktops by 2014 and we viewed it as imperative that Open GI remain at the forefront of broker online trading. If an eCommerce website doesn’t render correctly on a mobile device, the consumer experience is compromised and the likelihood of them failing to complete their purchase increases. We’ve been able to bring a solution to market that addresses this for our broker partners, enabling them to compete in an online world that is moving increasingly to mobile devices.”
