Significant Performance Improvements Benefit Trading Community
Onix Solutions (OnixS), a leader in high performance Direct Market Access market data and order routing software solutions, today announced Version 3 of the OnixS .NET FIX Engine and FAST Encoder/Decoder SDK for the Microsoft .NET Framework. The latest release includes significant market access and trade execution performance enhancements. The update is available immediately to existing and new licensees.
The OnixS .NET FIX Engine is a high performance, low latency Financial Information eXchange (FIX) Protocol implementation that supports Microsoft .NET Framework versions 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 on the x86 and x64 processor architectures. It is designed to FIX-enable .NET C#, VB.NET, and managed C++ trading applications using a reliable supported FIX implementation.
With this release, OnixS has implemented more than 90 key improvements including:
- Performance enhancements that increase throughput (up 63%) and parsing speed (up 44%), while reducing latency (down 8% - but then it was already a low number).
- A new FIX <-> FIXML convertor to enable seamless integration of FIX and FIXML message flows.
- A new pool-based threading model provides fine grained threading and thread affinity controls to facilitate tuning support for large numbers of FIX sessions using limited hardware resources. This is especially important for larger organizations supporting large numbers of simultaneous FIX sessions with high volume client order flow.
- Visual Studio 2012 project samples support.

The standard software distribution package includes “fast-start” source code samples to speed technical evaluation and developer on-boarding. The samples include latency, parsing and throughput benchmarks to illustrate low latency best practices, and FIX <-> FIXML convertor examples. These samples, along with the Buy-Side, Sell-Side, Trading Client and Exchange Emulator source code samples, enable developers to quickly familiarize themselves with the OnixS .NET FIX Engine implementation and specialize the source code samples to the target contexts.
