Cortado first to offer MDM with dynamic, Active Directory-based group management

Berlin - 17 July 2013

New Cortado Corporate Server 6.5 fully integrates with existing Microsoft rights system, significantly lowering administration efforts and expense

Cortado, a leading provider of enterprise mobility solutions, today launches the latest version of its Cortado Corporate Server. The 6.5 version combines mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM) with both file access and file sharing, becoming the world’s first MDM solution based on Active Directory. As a result, version 6.5 delivers seamless, dynamic management for users and their devices. Additional advantages, including full administration with Windows PowerShell, unidirectional synchronisation for enhanced teamwork, distribution of virtual Windows apps, app blacklisting and automated compliance enforcement make the new version the definitive, comprehensive mobile enterprise solution.

With an ever-increasing number of tablets and smartphones in enterprises, the challenge for IT departments is not just to securely and productively integrate them into the business, but also to manage these devices as efficiently as possible. Especially when it comes to large numbers of users, existing group management based on Active Directory provides an ideal foundation for MDM.

Cortado Corporate Server 6.5 is the world’s first solution to offer genuine and fully integrated group management based on Active Directory. This innovation allows Cortado Corporate Server to not only import groups from Active Directory, but more importantly, ensures that user rights are continuously matched against Active Directory rights. Policies can be assigned to the imported Active Directory groups to ensure secure working on the go. If new employees are assigned to the groups with mobile rights, or if users change groups, the relevant group settings are automatically assigned. With Cortado Corporate Server, neither a new rights system needs to be implemented, nor a second system maintained. The result is clear and simple group management, fully consistent with the rest of the IT landscape, and management that requires a minimum level of administration.

A further improvement for IT managers is offered with considerably enhanced PowerShell administration. Over 100 commands are now available for administrators to control and automate features required by users for working on the go.

Additionally, the new Cortado Corporate Server version improves MAM. Distributing virtual Windows apps is now possible, as is creating global, group, or user-specific app blacklists for all employees within a company.

For the area of enterprise access and collaboration, the new version offers intelligent, unidirectional synchronisation for enhanced mobile team collaboration. The user can decide specifically which folders should be synchronised automatically, locally or on the server. A new mobile file search in local directories and corporate drives makes searching for documents both a smooth and fast process. Additional features increase security, such as support of Samsung SAFE or automated compliance enforcement, i.e. instantly blocking corporate access when users have not adhered to security guidelines.

“Cortado Corporate Server delivers a complete solution for mobile device management, mobile application management as well as mobile enterprise access and collaboration, eliminating companies’ need to build their own solution from a range of individual products,” said Carsten Mickeleit, Cortado CEO. “Our new version further simplifies administration, improves team collaboration and increases security.”

A fully functional demo version of the latest version, Cortado Corporate Server 6.5, is available.
