Barclays appoints new non-executive director

5 February 2013

Barclays has announced the appointment of a new non-executive director as it continues its restructuring process in the aftermath of the global economic downturn.

Diane de Saint Victor will join the major British bank's board as of 1 March and will leave her post as general counsel, company secretary and group executive committee member of Swiss organization ABB Limited.

The professional's responsibilities in her current role at the automation technologies company include heading up its legal and integrity group and she also has previous experience of working as senior vice president and general counsel of European aerospace and defence firm EADS.

Speaking after the appointment, Barclays chairman Sir David Walker said he is "pleased" to welcome Ms de Saint Victor, as her "background in legal and regulatory matters and in leading cultural change at ABB will bring a valuable perspective to the board".

This comes after Chris Lucas and Mark Harding, the bank's finance director and general counsel respectively, announced over the weekend they are leaving their roles.
