Lloyds Banking Group’s new head of trade sales is John Bugeja

Lloyds Banking Group’s Commercial Banking unit has appointed John Bugeja as its new head of trade sales. Bugeja, who joined the bank in August 2012 to help build the trade product management capabilities and processes, will commence his new remit with immediate effect. He will be based in London and report to Dave Phillips, director of trade.

In his new role, Bugeja will play a key role in shaping Lloyds’ trade finance offering and develop the bank’s relationships with commercial banking clients, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and mid-sized clients, plus global corporates and other financial institutions (FIs).

Bugeja has over 30 years’ experience in international trade and has held a number of leadership positions in transaction banking across sales, product and operations management, working with HSBC, NatWest, RBS and Barclays.
