S&P Capital exploring alternatives for its fund research business

19 August 2013

S&P Capital has announced it has concluded an internal review of its product portfolio and is now looking into strategic alternatives for its Fund Research business.

In order to maximize value, the company will explore a full range of models for the business, while continuing to run its Fund Research arm and fully supporting ongoing client activities.

The business is an independent, qualitative research service that provides assessments of fund manager investment process and operational consistency.

S&P Capital provides a broad range of capabilities designed to help track performance and identify new trading and investment ideas, while performing risk analysis and mitigation strategies.

Since it was devised in 1990, the Fund Research arm, which has previously been known as Funds Management Research, has assessed thousands of individual, fixed-income funds, long-only equity, specialist funds and alternatives including hedge funds, absolute return and Ucits funds.

S&P Capital also reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to its existing equity and fixed-income research, analytics, data and desktop solutions businesses following the internal review.
