BrickStreet’s implementation strategy enables quick expansion to new states
StoneRiver, Inc., the trusted insurance technology partner with solutions across multiple business lines, today announced BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Company (BrickStreet) has expanded its production use of StoneRiver’s Multi-State PowerSuite Enterprise. After a successful data conversion to the StoneRiver system, BrickStreet recently increased its market footprint to include West Virginia, Indiana and North Carolina, and is now doing business in a total of seven states.
BrickStreet had selected PowerSuite to support its goal to expand its business to multiple states and to replace the disparate legacy system environment. With BrickStreet’s legacy systems unable to effectively support the desired expansion, the company initially considered custom development, but ultimately chose the StoneRiver offering. BrickStreet has deployed PowerSuite for policy and claims processing, in addition to taking advantage of the system’s data warehousing capabilities.
BrickStreet opted for a parallel approach to implementation. With the goal of expanding to new states as quickly as possible, BrickStreet chose to continue use of the legacy systems, while getting PowerSuite into production to support the expansion. Once successfully in production with selected states, BrickStreet continued their expansion while building out the PowerSuite functionality and mapping the legacy system data for conversion.
PowerSuite maintainability and configurability has allowed the BrickStreet team to continue their expansion to new states. While StoneRiver is continuing to provide support for the more complex BrickStreet template and configuration needs, the BrickStreet team has been able to enhance its in-house expertise and contribute significantly in the short term, while working toward increased self-sufficiency.
Tony Laska, BrickStreet Insurance CIO, commented, “StoneRiver’s PowerSuite not only enabled us to expand into new states as quickly as possible, but the close integration among PowerSuite components makes the system much easier for our IT staff to support and maintain. Working closely with the StoneRiver implementation team has resulted in a great deal of knowledge transfer and in-house expertise. StoneRiver has been a great group to work with; they understood our business priorities and helped us in defining the roadmap and plan for a successful implementation strategy.”
StoneRiver President, Gary Sherne, noted, “BrickStreet, like many insurers, found their legacy technology was constraining the business due to limited functionality and configurability and difficulty accessing crucial information. Any successful implementation is a combination of technology and the people involved. We were able to provide the technology with PowerSuite, and BrickStreet brought a very talented IT staff who worked well with our StoneRiver implementation team. We are pleased with the results and we look forward to working closely with BrickStreet as they expand the use of the system and continue to hone their in-house skills and expertise relative to the StoneRiver system.”
