O’Neill Europe selects SafeNet to enable multi-factor authentication for mobile workers

Brussels - 27th March 2012

The Californian surf, snow and lifestyle clothing brand O’Neill has selected SafeNet’s multi-factor authentication solutions to enable secure access to its corporate network and intellectual assets from tablets and mobile devices.

Having been a satisfied customer for over five years, O’Neill Europe has added SafeNet’s MobilePASS©, a software-based two-factor authentication solution that generates OTP passcodes on users’ mobile phones, to be deployed with its SafeWord 2008 authentication platform. O’Neill wanted to ensure that their staff had the flexibility to work remotely whilst enabling them to access key applications and intellectual property (designs, materials, production details, etc) securely, minimising the potential risk and financial loss from data breaches.

Using these solutions, O’Neill Europe will be able to offer its employees a variety of authentication methods on a wide range of mobile devices and platforms, including iPhone(R) smartphones, BlackBerry(R) devices Android(TM) applications , Java and Windows Mobile-based devices.

Commenting on the deal Peter Maljaars, Head of ICT said “Recent data breaches highlighted the need for a multi-layered approach to security with robust policies and strong authentication when accessing resources from mobile devices. The deployment of SafeWord and MobilePASS© across the company was very straightforward and the ability to centrally manage our authentication solutions is essential in maintaining control of our data.”
SafeNet’s MobilePASS© authentication solution supports over-the-air installation and enables centralised management of heterogeneous end-point devices in a secure environment. This, coupled with SafeWord’s hardware and software multi-factor authentication, has enabled O’Neill to seamlessly extend its existing hardware-based solution to include software mobile solutions without having to change its authentication backend. Furthermore the scalability of SafeNet’s authentication solutions allows to be extended into other parts of the business as the mobile workforce grows and the need for a “Bring Your Own Device” approach to IT increases.

Gary Clark, Vice President EMEA, Sales and Business Operations added “We are very excited about working with an established international brand like O’Neill. SafeNet’s centrally-managed authentication solutions offer the needed security, flexibility and ease of use to ensure full control of their data, while enabling mobile workers to access all company assets on the go.”
