Chinese business continued to face shifting conditions in March as the government attempted to engineer a soft landing, with the results of the Flash MNI China Business Sentiment Survey indicating softening overall and financial conditions but improved orders and credit.
The flash overall conditions index dipped to 56.67 from 58.87 in the final February survey while the flash new orders index rose to 66.53 from 64.00.
The flash survey is based on around 80% of the responses gathered for the official survey release on the last Friday of every month. The flash survey is released exactly one week ahead of the official survey and is designed to give a preliminary reading of Chinese business sentiment every month. The main MNI China Business Sentiment Survey is released at 0935 Beijing time (0135 GMT) on the last Friday of every month.
The complete survey contains 12 indicators for current conditions, plus a further 12 questions concerning expectations for conditions in three months.
