ITS (International Turnkey Systems) Group, a leading technology solution provider for higher education institutions, is adding value to the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), by automating the university’s systems, allowing students to register online, and raising the standard of the institution. This follows a deal between ITS and the university to implement their Student Information System solutions, through their learning partner, Talisma.
“This solution is an added value to the university. ITS is one of the leading companies in the IT field and they have experience in this region. Universities must have these solutions implemented if they are to stay ahead in the educational market. With the implementation of this new solution it will allow us to raise the standard of the university and attract more students,” said Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, Vice Chancellor of AURAK.
ITS has implemented their Campus Management SIS, Campus VUE portal, Microsoft NAV ERP and Blackboard Learn. The offered solution can be broken into four organized applications: Student (an application which contains data about prospective students, registered students, graduated students and courses taught), E-Learning, Finance and Human Resources. These applications will virtually manage and store all information needed for the day-to-day operations of the university.
With 200 students from 26 nationalities, the university can now cut costs due to the implementation, as students can enrol and register for courses from wherever they are in the world.
“This will save our admissions office, counsellors and advisors a lot of time. The automated system will also avoid problematic situations whereby students register for courses that require pre-requisites. . This problem won’t occur now because the program won’t allow this,” continued Al Alkim.
“This strategic partnership between ITS and AURAK illustrates how ITS group understands the university environment. This is what makes ITS unique and confirms that it’s services and products for educational institutions make us leaders in our field,” Khaled Al Saeid, ITS Managing Director and General Manager.
“The technological change at the university will provide many benefits to the institution from online registration, parental monitoring and distribution of lecture notes,” he added.
The solution has prompted AURAK to work on a new interactive website for the campus. The website will be linked through a shared point giving students and faculty members’ optimum connectivity to the university. Plans are also underway to increase the undergraduate and postgraduate services to include Civil Engineering and Accounting.
