New Version Caters To Investors Looking for Advanced Trading Features Such as Option Chains, Extended Hours Trading and More Technical Indicators
Fidelity Investments® have advanced its position as the highest rated online broker1 with the release of a significant trading update to its Fidelity Investments for iPad® app , now available for free on the App Store. The app’s new features include a redesigned trade ticket, extended hours trading, a full-screen option chain and charting enhancements including five new technical indicators. Additionally, for all investors – regardless of their trading levels – the new app features an Investor Center Locator and access to Fidelity Viewpoints® articles.
“We are committed to evolving our mobile apps to meet or exceed the increasingly sophisticated needs of our mobile users,” said Richard Blunck, executive vice president, digital distribution at Fidelity. “Mobile trading has quickly become a necessary tool for many of our active investors, so it’s natural that we give them trading capabilities on the go that they’re used to having on their desktops. In these fast-paced, volatile markets, mobile trading features can help give investors an edge.”
Over the last year, the number of mobile trades customers placed with Fidelity grew more than 90 percent2.
New Trading Features
The new trading features available to customers help them stay on top of their investments and act whenever and wherever they need to.
- Extended Hours Trading – Eligible customers3 will have early and late access to U.S. equity markets (7:00 a.m. to 9:28 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET except weekends and market holidays).
- Redesigned Trade Ticket – Additional quote details directly on the ticket4, an option chain search and extended hours quotes.
- Advanced Charting – Extended hours charts, logarithmic pricing and new technical indicators such as Parabolic SAR, Average True Range, Money Flow, Rate of Change and Williams %R, bringing the total number of indicators now available to 15.
- Full-Screen Option Chains – Sortable puts/calls columns, volume/open interest histograms and a put/call ratio indicating bullish or bearish trends. An array of new filters show adjusted, strikes, calls, puts and more.
New Education Resources
All investors using an iPad will now be able to read Fidelity Viewpoints in the app for timely thinking on the financial markets, investing ideas, and personal finance. Recent topics include “Trading High Yield Stocks,“ “The Upside-Down World of Income Investing” and “Greek Market Drama.”
Investors will also be able to easily locate a Fidelity Investor Center near them, and eligible customers5 will see a list of available seminars taking place in those Investor Centers. Sample seminars include Basic Option Strategies, Understanding Technical Indicators and Staying Connected with Fidelity Mobile® .
In addition to Fidelity’s updated iPad app, investors can research and trade stocks, options, ETFs and mutual funds through the Fidelity Investments App for iPhone® and iPod touch®, as well as through its AndroidTM app and Fidelity Mobile® for other smartphones such as BlackBerry®.
Investors can download the Fidelity iPad app for no charge from the App Store on iPad or at iTunes.com. Current users can receive the new features by simply updating their existing Fidelity iPad App.
