Cindy Murray Wins Outstanding Individual Achievement; Data Center Migration Project Also Honoured
Bank of America Merrill Lynch has been honoured in two categories at the 2012 FStech awards, in recognition of excellence and innovation in information technology demonstrated within the UK and broader EMEA financial services sector.
Cindy Murray, head of Global Treasury Product Infrastructure, Platforms and eCommerce for BofA Merrill, received the Barry Holland Memorial Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement. The magazine said that she “has shown a real commitment to innovation during the course of an impressive career.” In receiving the award, Murray explained that it is in recognition of the body of work that the overall team has embraced and accomplished over the last two years in developing new capabilities for the bank’s clients. Her team is responsible for designing, building and launching new credit and treasury products to drive the acquisition and deepening of client relationships. She also leads the eCommerce portal strategic direction and development for the bank’s corporate and commercial clients.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch also won the award for Data Center Excellence, which recognises the design and implementation of an outstanding data center. The award was bestowed for the successful migration of the company’s mainframe from Croydon to Camberley in the UK. This complex project, which entailed connecting 1,500 in-country servers and hundreds of interdependent systems in over 50 countries, led to a 40 percent increase in data processing speeds, plus a reduction of 36 percent in power consumption.
Bill Pappas, Global Wholesale Banking Technology and Operations chief information officer, added, “We are proud to have been recognised by FStech, particularly as their awards share our ambition to highlight how innovation in technology can drive business growth. The work in both categories recognises our ongoing commitment to deliver service excellence and solutions that are competitive differentiators and benefit our clients around the world.”
