Over 10,000 professional IRESS users were upgraded in recent weeks and enabled to view consolidated market data from multiple trading venues, ahead of the Chi-X launch this morning.
Of the 22 brokers connecting to Chi-X this morning, 19 are using IRESS IOS+ as part of their solution. Orders and trades are successfully being executed across all active securities in Chi-X this morning including orders placed via the IRESS smart order router.
IRESS Managing Director, Andrew Walsh, said âthis is a major milestone representing a significant contribution by many staff at IRESS who are focussed on the Australian market place and its smooth transition to multiple venue trading. Based on what we have seen I am happy to call this a success.â
Across the entire IRESS product range, functionality supports viewing and consolidated market data. Alternatively users are able to view market data from each individual exchange. Walsh added âthe way our market data is designed will automatically empower our end users accessing consolidated market data without having to change the way they have worked.â
As the launch of Chi-X Australia took place this morning, Walsh said that âclients overall have made significant efforts in readying themselves, and IRESS has invested heavily over the past year in preparation. Our ION 10GB dark fibre network has over 95% of our client base connected and will be a key component for capacity handling from here. In relation to trading architecture, over 70 IOS+ trading servers are now in production in Australia, with well over half of these already running the latest multimarket versions.â
Along with new competitive pricing announced recently for the IRESS OTW+BMR standalone trading terminal, IRESS offers flexibility to all clients for the right multi-markets trading platform. âWhether our clients are global investment banks or domestically focussed brokers, we offer a range of product and deployment options to ensure preparedness in the new multi-market environment in Australiaâ said Walsh.
