Banknote processing has been transformed due to the trend of many central banks to shift from traditional centralised cash cycle models to a much more delegated model. This new regulation means responsibility for processing cash is moved to the commercial sector, allowing certain banks or cash operators to establish vaults and hold notes designated as Notes Held to Order (âNHTOâ). For commercial banks, this can require additional investment in processing equipment and premises.
Paul Adams, Chief Operating Officer at Talaris says: âThe capabilities of the Nsignia⢠are designed to reflect the extensive changes weâve seen in banknote processing and the challenges our customers now face.
âWeâve worked closely with customers in the development of the Nsignia⢠to ensure it provides the functionality they now require to deal with a changing banknote handling environment, including new regulatory requirements and the need for more efficient cash inventory management and ATM replenishment. With the commercial sector now taking a more central role in cash sorting by fitness and quality, many organisations are seeing an opportunity to gain a competitive edge, and weâre already seeing this in the strong interest in Nsignia⢠from customers as weâve been demonstrating it across the world.
âThis powerful new banknote sorter underlines Talarisâ track record of innovation with tailored business solutions. We have already started to take orders following a successful launch event in South Africa and we look forward to begin shipping units over the next couple of months.â
Nsignia⢠is the latest addition to Talarisâ range of sorting solutions, including the highly successful Ntegra⢠multi-currency desktop banknote counter/ sorter, which aim to automate and streamline the process of handling cash in all sizes of organisation.
The Nsignia⢠has a speed of 600-800 notes per minute, with three output pockets delivering âthree way sortingâ at a single pass, which means that rejects can be physically removed for further evaluation without stopping processing. The Nsignia⢠can undertake the full range of fitness sorting activities, including dealing with soil, stains, graffiti, inkwear/de-inking, tears, holes, mutilations, repair (tape) and cornerfolds.
