The study uses the Celent ABCD Vendor View, which shows at a glance the relative position of vendors in the following categories: Advanced Technology, Breadth of Functionality, Customer Base (number of clients), and Depth of Client Services on two separate X/Y scales. Within the Breadth of Functionality category, SunGard was named as the most notable vendor and stood out from others due to its multiple planning levels, strong what-if scenario functionality, extensive list of modules (70), and financial planning concept. SunGard was also named a leading vendor in the Advanced Technology category.
Isabella Fonseca, research director at Celent, said, âThe market going forward will focus around better client service, and as such, vendors must adapt to the new environment by offering tools and services that address specific needs and pain points. Firms using SunGardâs financial planning component state that SunGard is a responsive partner, addressing inquiries and custom work promptly. Additionally, the product is considered to be extremely robust.â
Sean Cunniff, senior vice president, advisor and investment solutions, for SunGardâs wealth management business, said, âFinancial planning tools are crucial for advisors to be able to help their clients meet their goals and in turn build stronger, long-term relationships. SunGard continues to invest actively in WealthStationâs financial planning capabilities. Expanded Web Services and goal tracking functionalities, streamlined retirement planning capabilities, and additional financial planning data mining components will help advisors enhance their efficiency and increase transparency with their clients.â
