The Tornado Product Information Manager (PIM) is a cataloguing tool that enables bank staff to define a financial productâs characteristics. Particular focus is placed on storing or referencing marketing and sales sources - such as promotional features and offers, images, documents and videos, and sales messaging to display within Internet sites or mobile apps during origination. The PIM can manage complex decisioning rules, such as eligibility. The PIM can also source essential financial data - such as rates or term conditions - from multiple back office systems, or other product catalogues. Families of products can be defined using this product data. Like all Tornado modules, user experience is a key consideration and the tool offers an intuitive, graphical representation of the entire product portfolio.
Tornadoâs Internet Banking features have been extended to recognise tablet devices, allowing banks to offer an optimised tablet experience by exploiting the unique navigation controls and orientation settings for each deviceâs specific form-factor. The solution supports popular tablets including the Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy and Motorola Xoom.
Marc Vernet, Ubiquiemâs Chief Product Officer commented: âPeople use tablets in a very different way to both personal computers and mobile phones, so it makes sense to offer a relevant banking experience to this growing segment. But consequently, banks are caught in a dilemma of either developing native tablet applications or tweaking existing websites to be more âtablet-friendlyâ. The first option takes time and money and is frankly complex due to the differing and evolving tablet technologies. While the latter is certainly easier, as a user I want a much richer experience than this promises â I certainly donât want to worry about how to best orientate the device or need to âpinch to zoomâ the mobile browser to see what I need to.â
