The British-Swiss Business Awards were launched in 2011 and are given by the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce. The mission of the annual awards is to recognise the achievements of innovative companies who have made an outstanding contribution towards bilateral trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Switzerland. The shortlists were nominated by the public and then winners chosen by a distinguished panel of judges, which included Victoria Curzon-Price, Professor Emerita of the University of Geneva. The awards were granted in five categories: Company of the Year, Excellence in Customer Services, Corporate Social Responsibility, Unsung Hero, and the category Avaloq was awarded in: Most Promising New Business.
On announcing the award, the judges stated âAvaloq has an impressive 20-year track record providing banking software to customers in both Switzerland and the UK. It has proved its staying power in a highly competitive market. It is clearly a sustainable and innovative firm with a fine futureâ.
Peter Schöpfer, member of the Avaloq Supervisory Board accepted the British-Swiss Business Award at the ceremony in Geneva: âTen years from now, the children of today will use the term âbankingâ in a wholly different way. New possibilities â may they be induced by mobile technologies or social networking â will change financial services substantially. It is this change that Avaloq stands for and it is a great honour that we were nominated for this award by the Swiss Embassy in London following close collaboration in the last year.â
Avaloqâs solutions cover the entire banking environment from front- to back-office, including advisory tools on tablet computers and smartphones, portfolio management, and a full range of middle and back office support functions.
