Positive turnover development at Börse Berlin

Berlin - 30 December 2011

In a difficult market environment Börse Berlin concludes 2011 successfully with a total turnover of 47.7 billion Euro and 6.9 million trades.

Accumulated turnover of both market venues Xontro and Equiduct increased by 308 percent against 2010. At the same time the number of trades rose by 430 percent. Particularly trading on Equiduct developed positively.

In broker-aided Xontro trading the level of the previous year could be held in 2011 with 222,000 trades thanks to the strong first half of the year. In the second half share trading was affected adversely by the developments in the Euro Zone, but investors also showed restraint in bond trading. Nevertheless turnover still reached a growth of 86 percent with 13.9 billion Euro.

In 2011, Equiduct traded 33.7 billion Euro, a significant increase of 710 percent vs. 2010. The number of trades rose to 6.7 million in 2011 from 1.1 million in 2010 (a six-fold increase). Equiduct has therefore established itself as one of the fastest growing trading venues in Europe.
