Now in its 33rd year, Sibos continues to attract growing numbers of attendees and exhibitors. Last yearâs conference in Amsterdam proved to be the most popular in its history, with more than 9,000 visitors, 170 sessions and 175 speakers over the five days. With the 2011 exhibition space sold out months ago and thousands of participants expected to make the trip to Canada, this yearâs event is shaping up to be the biggest Sibos yet.
So what is on the agenda in Toronto? Well, there is a huge variety of topics in the programme of talks and sessions over the four-day event, which mirrors the diverse make-up of the SWIFT audience. Sessions will focus on the impact of regulation such as Basel III and the Dodd-Frank Act and the challenges created by the adoption of new technologies such as mobile payments, e-invoicing and cloud computing - but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Other talks will drill down into areas including crisis management, Islamic finance and the ISO 20022 business model.
