The centre, which currently employs 10 software developers and 11 software testers, will double in size by November if market demand stays at the current level. Odyssey's goals are to build a financial development centre of expertise and to complete the current team with business analysis, interface development (middleware) and RDBMS database development experts.
James Thomson, Odyssey Financial Technologiesâ SVP Development, explains, âWe are pleased by the progress we have made since deciding to open our Software Development Centre of Excellence in Scotland. The skilled personnel we have found are proving to be a real asset and we continue to be enthused by the prospect of finding staff with in-depth knowledge of the financial services sector. Our intention is to add to our development capacity by developing an interface consulting team to provide expertise and support in the deployment of our solutions to our European clients.â
The Glasgow centre provides support for our wealth management products, TripleâA Plus⢠and WealthManagerâ¢. The key activities of the centre include project management, product analysis and design, software development and product testing, as well as certification.
Odyssey chose the Java J2EE technology platform and the C programming language to develop Triple'A Plus⢠and WealthManagerâ¢. Both products are connected to a central RDBMS repository (Oracle, Sybase, or DB2) and provide graphical configuration tools and business rule engines. Both solutions can easily integrate into the infrastructure of our clients, and communicate in real time (import and publish) with external applications, while handling very large volumes of data.
