8 September 2010

Osama Abbasi has been named by Credit Suisse as the new chief executive officer for the Asia-Pacific region.

According to the financial services provider, the new post holder will take over from Kai Nargolwala from the start of October.

Mr Abbasi currently lives in Hong Kong, where he will remain for the location of his new post, and is head of the equities division in the territory.

Brady W Dougan, CEO of Credit Suisse, told Reuters: “Osama has a strong track record as one of our most talented business leaders and will bring great energy and focus to his new role.

“As regional CEO of Asia Pacific, he will provide essential leadership as we further develop our strategy, our brand, our people and our client relationships across our business divisions in this key growth market.”

Outgoing post holder Mr Nargolwala is now expected to be appointed as a non-executive chairman at Credit Suisse in the region.

Meanwhile, Neil Gregson, former Credit Suisse employee, has joined the global equities team at JP Morgan Asset Management.
