Dominic Lester, a former head of technology investment at UBS, has been hired by global securities firm Jefferies.

According to the business, Mr Lester will work as a managing director and head of European Technology and Telecommunications Investment Banking.

Previously, he worked for UBS in a similar role in both Europe and the US.

He is to work in the firm’s London offices and has been appointed at the same time as Daniel Aharoni and Guillaume Taurignan, who have joined as senior vice president and vice president respectively.

Benjamin D Lorello, global head of Investment Banking and Capital Markets at Jefferies, said: “Dominic brings to Jefferies nearly 20 years of technology and telecom investment banking experience and is one of the most respected technology bankers in Europe.

“Together with the addition of Daniel and Guillaume and our firm's existing senior technology investment banking coverage team of Mark Fisher, managing director and head of European Technology Investment Banking, and managing director Andreas Pieczanski, Jefferies now has one of the largest coverage teams in European technology of any global investment bank."

Jefferies saw its net revenues increase by 13 per cent to $670 million during the second quarter of 2010 when compared with figures from the three months ending June 30th 2009.
