30 November 2010

BNP Paribas is expanding its private equity division in the US.

According to the financial services provider, its Global Equities and Commodity Derivatives unit is taking on three new staff members to bolster its client offering.

Stephen Salemy previously worked for JPMorgan and Rafferty Capital Markets and has been hired to manage the firm’s strategy platform.

Anne Cameron and Greg Lantz are BNP Paribas’ other two hires and will both be working as analysts for the firm.

The former also worked for JPMorgan while the latter was previously employed at Oppenheimer & Co.

Chris Innes, head of Institutional Equity Sales in the Americas at BNP Paribas, said: “The US Equities Strategy Team, along with the recent launch of corporate access, is part of the growth initiatives to increase our impact with institutional clients and is a vital step in the Americas in building our Global Equities brand.”

Mr Innes joined BNP Paribas in August of this year to manage the bank’s expansion in its derivatives and brokerage units.

The firm recently announced the opening of new offices in Barcelona as part of a strategy of expansion in Spain.
