Azaleos Managed Service for New Microsoft Lync Server Taps Power of Private Cloud

Seattle - 17 November 2010

Support for On-Premise and Third Party Datacenter Deployments Optimizes Flexibility, Performance, and Service Reliability

Azaleos® Corporation, the managed messaging, collaboration and unified communications services company, today announced the availability of its managed service for Microsoft Lync 2010, the renamed and highly anticipated third release of Microsoft’s unified communications (UC) platform. Azaleos managed Microsoft Lync Server Services, which support both private cloud/third party datacenter and on-premise deployment models, removes the leading barrier to adoption of UC – lack of in-house expertise to manage real-time communication technologies. The proven Azaleos private cloud approach delivers the advantages of public cloud services without the latency problems associated with hosted PBX services.

“Azaleos provides a flexible and reliable alternative for enterprises that want to take advantage of the benefits provided by Microsoft Lync Server 2010,” said Ashima Singhal, group product manager, Microsoft Lync. “Azaleos plays an important role in addressing the business requirements of customers that want to deploy Lync Server 2010 in a private cloud, third-party datacenter, or on-premise, but prefer to outsource monitoring and management.”

In a recent report entitled Microsoft Lync Server 2010 and the Unified Communications Market, Osterman Research found that while cost savings from Voice over IP was ranked as a top-three business driver for deploying unified communications, only one-half of deployments actually implement voice services. According to the report’s findings, many enterprises that would like to deploy VoIP simply do not do so because it’s too hard to manage.

“Over the past six months Azaleos has experienced a marked increase in demand for unified communications services. In fact, it is now rare that a request for proposal does not include a requirement for a UC platform,” said Scott Gode, vice president of product management and marketing for Azaleos. “Enterprise customers have come to trust the stability of the Microsoft UC platform and are recognizing the cost savings and productivity benefits of migrating to a UC platform. The sticking point remains the ability for companies to self-manage these systems and maintain acceptable dial-tone service.”

Turnkey Lync Server 2010 Management To help companies fully deploy all the services within Lync Server 2010 including instant messaging, video conferencing and enterprise voice technologies – the Azaleos managed Lync Server 2010 services provide monitoring and management of the entire Lync Server stack. Azaleos experts in its East and West Coast network operations centers continuously monitor Microsoft Lync 2010 end-to-end focusing on conditions that can affect services availability and quality. Azaleos can detect, diagnose, and repair problems before customers even know they exist. In addition to its patented AzaleosX technology, the company has developed and uses proprietary innovations designed to deliver a static-free UC experience for end-users.

These include: - Azaleos Synthetic Lync Server client – this unique Azaleos technology continuously tests and monitors communications services (IM, voice, video and conferencing) quality and response time between end user nodes within an organization  Expanded Virtualization monitoring capabilities that enhance green computing performance for Lync Server 2010  Azaleos F5 Local Traffic Manager (LTM) monitoring, which provides full end to end management of network load balancing, a key component for maintaining a robust enterprise Lync Server 2010 architecture as well as high performance for Exchange 2010 systems
