Findings from a study by Acronis revealed that nearly two-thirds of companies questioned said it can take them up to a day to recover following a system failure.
Nearly a fifth of respondents stated that they do not carry out back-ups on devices such as laptops and PCs.
Acronis warned that more companies should follow the example the 25 per cent of respondents who do adopt such practices, especially as 60 per cent of corporate data is held on workstations of this kind.
David Blackman, general manager of Northern Europe at Acronis, said: âAcronis is concerned that in 2010, organisations across Europe are still not backing up, and perhaps more importantly, recovering properly.
âWith little room for downtime in todayâs business environment, itâs surprising that many companies still donât carry out regular backups.â
Up to 38 per cent of UK firms admitted that they have recently failed to back up their corporate workstations.
