Award recognises there is ‘no risk’ managing risk with software as a service

A strategic decision to rebuild a popular risk management and compliance software product as an ‘on demand’ service has proved the right one for Australian software company Tickit Systems. The company is a 2009 winner of a prestigious Consensus Software Award for Tickit On Demand. This win reflects not just the ease of use and cost-effectiveness of the Tickit On Demand application, as it does the number of clients who now use the Software as a Service (Saas).

More than 95 percent of Tickit’s client base moved from their in-house application to using the Software as a Service in less than 12 months since the company launched Tickit On Demand. Tickit Systems has also recorded significant sales growth since the launch of the new product.

Clients include names such as Allianz, Toyota and Colonial First State Property Management.

The application has a suite of new functions including a powerful report writer, global search capability and a user configurable dashboard. This new functionality combined with delivery over the internet makes Tickit a compelling proposition for public and private enterprise alike.

The Consensus Awards reward excellence and innovation in software design in Australia and New Zealand.

The judges said Tickit On Demand allows organisations to define and implement a customised system based on globally accepted risk management standards without the need for expensive, bespoke software development.

Research company Gartner has reported that nearly 40 percent of IT executives in a multi country survey plan to replace on-premises software with SaaS products this year.

Tarun Philip, Tickit Systems’ senior manager, sales and marketing, says “SaaS or On Demand is software delivered over the internet hosted and managed by a service provider. Users typically pay a fee to licence its use. Cost effectiveness, ease of deployment and the failure of ‘on premises’ software to meet performance expectations are some of the reasons for the growing popularity of SaaS.”

“The SaaS model makes Tickit Systems cost efficient and we can pass these efficiencies onto our customers. The model also makes us agile in responding to customer needs,” he said.

“Saas simplifies things for CIOs and the IT department. We see an emerging trend where IT departments are being asked to do more with limited resources and see significant value in the business working with quality SaaS providers. SaaS typically means no additional costs for third party software licences nor the need to use vital in-house infrastructure or IT resources.”

Mr. Philip said users of earlier versions of Tickit were attracted to the new Tickit On Demand because of its intuitiveness, ease of use and major new features.

“The report writer allows them to customize standard report templates using drag and drop to create new reports. Vital risk and compliance information can now be highlighted with a dashboard that can be configured to individual requirements,” he said.

Tickit On Demand is aligned with Australian and New Zealand Standards such as AS/NZS 4360, AS/NZS 3806 and globally with the new ISO 31000 international risk management standard

The application is hosted in a scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure to ensure high availability and responsiveness.
