18 June 2009

Fidelity International, GLG Partners and JPMorgan Asset Management have scooped the top fund industry prizes at this year's Thomson Reuters Extel awards.

Fidelity, which described the event as the "City Oscars", topped the voting for leading pan-European fund management firm for the eighth time in nine years, ahead of JPMorgan and Capital Research & Marketing.

GLG Partners collected the hedge fund award, beating Lansdowne Partners and Citadel, Reuters reports.

Meanwhile, JPMorgan Asset Management analyst Asif Jeevanjee was ranked the leading pan-European fund management individual. It is the third year in a row that a JPMorgan expert has won the category.

Indeed, half of the top ten spots for buyside individuals went to firm's analysts.

Other winners included UBS and Credit Swiss. The Swiss banks topped the categories for leading pan-European brokerage firm for equity research and leading broker for equity trading respectively.

Rankings for the Thomson Reuters Extel awards are calculated using votes from 1,450 buyside firms, 170 research and brokerage houses and 500 of Europe's biggest listed companies.
