For the fourth year running, SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services proudly continues to be the official data and competitive intelligence partner of the world's biggest annual rugby tournament, the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

Ian Manocha, Managing Director of SAS UK states: "The RBS 6 Nations Championship is one of the most widely recognised tournaments in the sporting calendar. The competition invokes images of strength and success, both of which are attributes that SAS is very proud to be associated with. The RBS 6 Nations Championship continues to be a magnificent platform to showcase the power of SAS’ software, particularly our strength in creating competitive intelligence, and advantage, from vast amounts of data.”

Throughout the 2009 Championship, SAS will continue to provide the BBC with comprehensive on-screen analysis for all matches, including the breakdown of vital information, such as the percentage of possession, penalties conceded, number of tackles made and line-outs won and lost. SAS will also provide a live data feed of match intelligence to BBCi, so fans at home can access the same real-time competitive intelligence through the interactive service.

Immediately after each game, official pre- and post match data analysis and graphical reports, generated by SAS, will be posted on the official RBS 6 Nations Championship website and will be distributed to participating unions and team coaches. This information is also sent to journalists worldwide, to be used for post-match editorial in local, online, national and international press.

Over the last three years, SAS has proved it can deliver valuable data and competitive intelligence in a very challenging environment and that it understands the complex requirements of the greatest annual rugby tournament in the world. The data, analysis and insight provided by SAS for each and every game has proved priceless for us both internally, as well as for external parties interested in the game, be they journalists or fans.”
