PerTrac Analytical Platform API Toolkit Released Today Allows Clients and Software Partners to Customize Analytics and Workflow

13 January 2009

PerTrac Financial Solutions today announced the release of the PerTrac API Toolkit, an application programming interface toolkit that lets users of the popular PerTrac Analytical Platform connect their own custom solutions and those of third-party vendors with the information housed in the PerTrac system. The PerTrac Analytical Platform is the world’s leading desktop application for investment analysis and asset allocation.

With the new API, clients can automatically extract data and statistical functions from the PerTrac Analytical Platform into other applications or systems that they use, saving time, automating their workflow, and thereby reducing cost and operational risk. Similarly, results collected or calculated in other systems, including third-party applications, can be pushed back into the PerTrac system for storage, display, analysis or reporting, thereby making it even easier to use the PerTrac Analytical Platform as a central information hub in their investment management or investor relations process.

The PerTrac API Toolkit can be used to create applications that link the PerTrac Analytical Platform to other client databases, which can in turn be integrated with other data sources and applications. The Toolkit contains sample programs and data extraction tools to help users get up-and-running almost immediately.

“The new PerTrac API Toolkit is the centerpiece of our open access philosophy, in which we support clients’ need to easily move information from one system to another to automate their workflow. It will be welcomed by those clients who want to extend the power of PerTrac into their existing internal or third-party systems,” commented Gerald Mintz, PerTrac President and CEO. “With this valuable new resource, clients now have the flexibility to automate the flow of information to and from the PerTrac Analytical Platform into other databases and programs such as Microsoft Excel, advanced analytical and risk management tools, reporting engines, and the like. It will also make it easier to integrate the results produced by other systems into the PerTrac data repository and into PerTrac reports. With this release, the PerTrac Analytical Platform is now a full-fledged enterprise application.”

In addition to its end-user benefits, the PerTrac API Toolkit will be made available to PerTrac Certified Partners (PTCP) to develop interfaces between their applications and the PerTrac Analytical Platform. FinAnalytica, makers of Cognity, a leading risk management software tool, will be among the first PTCP’s to utilize the API Toolkit.

“Given the current market environment, risk management and analysis is taking on even greater importance,” said Mintz. “Our PTCP Program and API Toolkit gives our clients the option to extend their risk management capabilities into other platforms without losing the ability to use the PerTrac Analytical Platform as their central data hub and analysis and reporting platform.”

Highlights of the PerTrac API Toolkit include:
• A Statistics Extract Utility, for placing the investment statistics of your choice into a SQL Server table, where they can be linked into other applications or systems.
• Full access to PerTrac data, including 600 text fields, 1400 checkboxes, dates, historical returns, NAVs, and fund sizes from all available data sources.
• Data export, for moving data from PerTrac databases into other databases, or xml or flat files, where it can be combined with data from other sources. Use data wherever you want: internal reporting systems, custom web portals, and more.
• Data import, for creating new records or updating existing records in PerTrac databases using data pulled from accounting, CRM, portfolio management, and other internal systems.
• The Common Fields feature, which simplifies accessing the same information from different data vendors in PerTrac databases.
• PerTrac ID functionality, for grouping duplicate fund records in PerTrac databases, then exporting records from your preferred sources to create a custom de-duplicated database. This allows the creation of composite records, using data from the different data sources to which a client subscribes.
