New ILOG JViews 8.5 Offers Industry-first Eclipse Integration and Enhanced Support for Rich Internet Applications

19 November 2008

ILOG® (NASDAQ: ILOG, Euronext: ILO, ISIN: FR0004042364) today announced ILOG JViews® 8.5, the latest version of ILOG’s award-winning Java-based visualization suite, with new features that enhance the creation of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) as well as desktop applications. ILOG JViews 8.5 adds industry-first support for the Eclipse platform including the new ILOG JViews Graph Layout module, and additional support for Ajax frameworks to help developers easily build interactive, sophisticated user displays for RIA faster.

With seven modules targeting diagrams, charts, graph layout and map displays, ILOG JViews demonstrates ILOG’s role as innovator and industry leader in providing solutions for high-end visualization applications, such as large-scale industrial monitoring systems or Web-enabled road traffic information systems. The new release accelerates development through industry-standard integrated development environments like Eclipse and allows developers to take advantage of the latest RIA features. Because ILOG has such a comprehensive suite of offerings, ILOG also saves development time and cost by reducing the number of vendors customers need to buy from and the number of products they need to buy. Other vendors have, comparatively, incomplete offerings.

Industry-first Eclipse Graphical Modeling Framework (GMF) Integration
Diagrams presenting interconnected graphical entities are essential to visual modeling applications – such as business process modeling, software-oriented architecture choreography modelers or UML class diagram editors. To help Eclipse developers build these applications more efficiently and to enable users to understand what large models really mean for businesses so they can make decisions accordingly, the new ILOG JViews Graph Layout for Eclipse offers native integration with the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF), Graphical Modeling Framework (GMF), and Graphical Editing Framework (GEF). This industry-first integration with Eclipse helps developers build Rich Client Platform applications or custom Eclipse plug-ins without breaking their existing code.

Seamless Integration with Leading Ajax Frameworks For RIA Creation
ILOG JViews 8.5 adds integration with the most popular Ajax and PPR (Partial Page Rendering) frameworks, including ICESoft’s ICEFaces and its Ajax push technologies, Apache Trinidad, JBoss Rich Faces Ajax, and Facelets for the creation of collaborative web application servers and portals.

With this integration developers can create next-generation RIA using ICEfaces® Ajax push technologies faster, and will be able to maintain them and manage complex coding more easily. Ajax push technology allows real-time web display updates, by automatically synchronizing images with the underlying data.

“We wanted to provide our customers with a rich graphical monitoring solution for improved overall management of their real-time data integration activities, as well as monitoring highly available mission critical environments,” said Dilip Karki, development manager, Java Products, GoldenGate Software, Inc. “With these capabilities, we are building a leading-edge product and solution which enables our customers to access real-time information across the enterprise”.

The new JViews 8.5 product suite will be available in December.

Through its Flex, Java™, .NET and C++ graphics libraries and components, ILOG provides the industry’s most comprehensive set of graphics tools for creating sophisticated, interactive user displays. ILOG’s graphics products enhance decision-making speed and ability by making vast quantities of complex data more comprehensible and manageable for users. With each of ILOG’s visualization products, developers can save 50 to 80 percent of development time in creating displays. ILOG is a member of the OpenAjax Alliance™ and participates in several standards initiatives in the graphics world.
