In 2007 Diners Club started to look for a new solution able to support the card business in New Zealand, thus allowing the company to increase the speed to market with new products and services, to enhance multi-channel delivery and to reduce the TCO. BPCâs SmartVista Suite of software products for transaction processing and card management became a solution of choice for Diners Club due to the unique combination of open modern architecture and comprehensive functionality with the ability to support the payment organizationâs future growth in the dynamic Asia Pacific card market.
Within the project BPC will install a fully functional SmartVista based solution, comprising SmartVista Front-End, SmartVista Back-Office and SmartVista CardGen components, at the Diners Club franchise in New Zealand. Diners Club is also considering similar implementations in the other two franchises in Singapore and Malaysia.
The SmartVista Front-End system designed for online processing of financial transactions will provide interfaces to banks and local switch providers running ATM and POS networks, to service providers and to Diners Club International. The system will be handling transactions originated in different channels and routing them to SmartVista Back-Office or Diners Club Service Centre (DCSC) for authorization. The embedded SmartVista Fraud Prevention and Monitoring module will allow Diners Club to detect and block suspicious transactions during authorization thus reducing the level of losses resulting from card fraud.
SmartVista Back-Office CMS will be also connected to DCSC for clearing and settlement, as well as to a wide number of third party systems, including GL, collections system, credit bureau, internet bank, merchants. It will provide facilities to generate and manage a variety of card products, including credit, debit, charge, personal, corporate, prepaid, chip based EMV cards with multiple linkages between cards and customer accounts. In its turn, SmartVista CardGen subsystem will enable Diners Club to prepare data and perform personalization of both magnetic stripe and EMV chip cards with security provided end-to-end.
BPCâs SmartVista solution has been built with a focus on flexibility achieved through parameterization that allows Issuers to flexibly define relationships between cardholders, cards and accounts and to easily set up new products and services, fees and rates, card loyalty and rewards schemes. All these capabilities coupled with rich functionality of the SmartVista credit module designed to support a wide range of credit products and a comprehensive accounting for credit transactions, have greatly influenced the decision of Diners Club to select SmartVista.
âOur effort to maintain and renew the existing systems was ever increasing, whilst an ability to extend their functionality and performance to support new time to market products and volumes was decreasing. We needed a flexible and scalable platform to meet the increasing card processing requirements, which translates into modern products that can be brought to market quickly. The ability of BPCâs SmartVista to support multi-channel delivery, sophisticated card products, Fraud prevention, card loyalty and rewards schemes all on a single platform made us confident that it is a solution we can build on for the coming yearsâ, stated James Koh, Executive Director Diners Club.
âIt was a landmark deal for BPC in the Asia Pacific market, and we are extremely proud that SmartVista has become a solution of choice for the world leading payment organization. The SmartVista Suite has already proven its value as a transaction and cards processing platform for the Diners Club franchise in the Philippines, and now it will bring the accumulated experience for the project in New Zealand and other exciting projects with Diners Club, which I believe will further strengthen the position of BPC as a provider of modern open-ended solutions for the Asia Pacific payment industryâ, commented Rajan S Narayan, Head of BPC Asia Pacific.
