Merrill Lynch and GlobeOp Financial Services to Host Independent Valuation Seminar

As hedge fund portfolios grow in size and complexity, the role of governance and independent valuation in retaining investor confidence and reducing operational risk grows in importance.

To share new ideas and innovations in this area, Merrill Lynch and GlobeOp Financial Serviceswill host an invitation only valuation seminar on Wednesday, April 2 in New York. Following the event, an edited transcript and podcast of the discussion will be available on both companies’ websites.

The seminar is being co-hosted by GlobeOp and Merrill Lynch, who have collaborated on the Merrill Middle Office Solution, an outsourced, prime broker-neutral platform for a range of middle and back-office services for the hedge fund industry.Four senior industry panelists representing asset management, auditing and hedge fund administration will discuss dispute resolution and liquidity conscious valuation. Key topics will include:

• What differentiates the best independent valuation providers
• The most effective ways of managing situations in which portfolio managers disagree with independent valuation sources
• How valuation should reflect concentrated positions that would be difficult to liquidate at the marked price
