The deployment is part of Ampcoâs initiative to protect the security of consumer credit card information that is processed and/or transmitted from its managed locations. The Trustwave UTM appliances will help ensure Ampcoâs on-going compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), which is a requirement for all credit card accepting merchants as mandated by Visa Inc., MasterCard Worldwide, American Express and Discover.
According to IDC, a subsidiary of International Data Group (IDG), the worldâs leading technology media, research and events company, unified threat management security appliance products include multiple security features integrated into one device. To be included in this category, the appliance must contain the ability to perform network firewalling, network intrusion detection and prevention (ID&P), and gateway antivirus (AV). All of the capabilities need not be utilized, but the functions must exist inherently in the appliance.
With multiple security applications provided by the single UTM device, Ampco locations will receive the following services delivered on Trustwaveâs UTM-10 appliance:
⢠Firewall â Ensures that only authorized users have access to Ampcoâs IT environment
⢠Intrusion Prevention â Alerts of any potential compromise attempts
⢠Anti-Virus â Protects against the latest online hazards
⢠Content Filtering â URL Screening to block in appropriate web sites
⢠VPN â ensures confidentiality and security of communications between your organization and remote employees or other connected entities
All of these services can be utilized concurrently to provide the best possible defense against hackers and other online hazards attempting to access consumersâ personal data including credit card information.
