Unity Trust Bank Selects Bottomline for New Online Payments Service

Portsmouth, NH – 22 March 2007

Bottomline Technologies (NASDAQ: EPAY), a leading provider of collaborative payment and invoice automation solutions, today announced that Unity Trust Bank, the specialist bank for membership organizations and charities, has selected Bottomline to provide its customers with a new online payments service.

Bottomline’s leading Web-based payments service is designed to enable organizations in the UK to initiate cost-effective BACS-compliant payments, collect direct debits and use the Automated Direct Debit Instruction Service (AUDDIS) for paperless direct debits. Through the use of this bank-branded service, Unity Trust Bank will offer its 18,000 customers the ability to quickly and easily automate and control the initiation and collection of payments via a convenient and secure Web portal.

“In conducting our evaluation of potential providers, it was clear that Bottomline possessed the industry expertise to deliver the type of payments bureau our customers desired,” said Neil Forman, Electronic Banking Manager, Unity Trust Bank. “By selecting Bottomline to power the bank’s branded Unity e-Payment service, we can offer a three-tiered system providing a choice of options to our customers that best suits their individual needs.”

“We’ve been working closely with Unity Trust Bank as a strategic partner for several years on different electronic payment initiatives, and broadening the scope of the relationship to include an online payments bureau was a natural fit,” said Chris Peck, Europe Group Sales Director, Bottomline Technologies. “With our solution and market expertise, customers such as Unity Trust Bank can leave managing the technical aspects of the platform to us and focus their efforts on interacting with their customers.”
