Informatica Announces Significant Expansion of Its Velocity Implementation Methodology

REDWOOD CITY, Calif - 21 March 2007

Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), a leading provider of data integration solutions, today announced the latest expansion of Informatica VelocitySM, its widely employed implementation framework for enterprise data integration using Informatica products. Based on best practices and proven methodologies from Informatica consultants in the field, Velocity is now broadened to address data quality, legacy data migration and data governance as integral aspects of enterprise data integration.

"As the definition of enterprise data integration continues to broaden beyond data warehousing, so does the scope and utility of Velocity," said Brian Hodges, vice president, Global Services at Informatica. "We now have more data integration professionals feeding their expertise and practical experience into Velocity and more customers taking advantage of this unique resource than ever before. The growing base of knowledge is proving invaluable to customers and partners as they address strategic requirements ranging from regulatory compliance, data quality assurance and master data management initiatives to the migration, consolidation and synchronization of data within and across corporate firewalls."

Accessible through the Informatica customer portal, Velocity encapsulates the collective experience of Informatica's Professional Services consultants and their customers worldwide. Data architects, data integration developers, business analysts and other customer personnel are able to leverage best practices documentation, data mapping templates and project-specific workflow models developed over hundreds of successful data integration projects to accelerate the implementation and maximize the value of their Informatica solutions.

Velocity is now expanded to encompass the advanced data quality capabilities incorporated in the Informatica data integration product suite as the result of the company's January 2006 acquisition of Similarity Systems. This includes best practices and documentation for implementing data profiling, data standardization, cleansing, matching and monitoring, as well as the Informatica Data Quality Management Process for continually improving data quality. Similarly, Informatica product capabilities and the Informatica Migration Methodology for successful data migration are now expertly documented within Velocity to help decrease the time-to-delivery and risk in migration projects while ensuring data consistency across systems and processes.

Additionally, Velocity includes such sophisticated features as high availability, domain architecture, web-based configuration console, Java Transformations, and performance and tuning updates via best practices and updated documentation.

"Chesapeake Energy is in the first stages of using Velocity to help fast track our Informatica implementation," said Stephen Taylor of Chesapeake Energy. "Already it has provided our program team with a common terminology, a common semantic model and a set of best practices for accelerating our large-scale migration project and reducing its risk. Essentially, Velocity is helping to keep us all on the same page and on the right track."
